A passenger car struck semi-trailer killing a car driver at I-5 near Sacramento, CA

At approximately 7:55 am, a black Toyota Prius was traveling in the #1 lane of northbound I-5 north of Elk Grove Blvd. at an unknown speed. The driver of the Toyota failed to notice heavy traffic at a complete stop in front of his location.

For unknown reasons, the driver of the Toyota failed to stop and collided with the rear of a truck trailer. The driver of the Toyota sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Cosumnes Fire Department.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision. The #1 lane of northbound I-5 was closed for approximately three hours. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after notification of next of kin.

This collision is still under investigation.” According to the CHP – South Sacramento.
