FedEx debuts autonomous same-day delivery bot

FedEx developed an autonomous battery-powered delivery robot to facilitate same-day last-mile deliveries, the company announced Wednesday. The FedEx SameDay Bot travels on sidewalks and along roadsides to deliver small shipments to consumers. The robot comes equipped with LiDAR, cameras and machine learning to help it avoid obstacles in its path. Major flooding leads to rescues, evacuations in California

As FreightWaves reported earlier this week, flooding was going to be a pretty good bet across northern California and the San Francisco metro area this week. Legislation in Congress would allow under-21 interstate truckers

Introduced into both chambers of Congress on Tuesday was a bill that would allow CDL holders under the age of 21 to cross state lines and drive in interstate operations. Currently, federal law only allows CDL holders 21 and older to operate interstate. New Colorado law lowers age for interstate trucking

Dive Brief: Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signed into law a piece of legislation last week that allows people as young as 18 years of age to drive a commercial vehicle in interstate commerce. FMCSA officially confirms it’s proceeding with proposal for hours of service overhaul
