Plant-based “meat” producer Beyond Meat adds Einride electric trucks with plans to scale electric vehicles (EV) fleet

Beyond Meat has contracted Einride to provide electric trucks and charging stations for the plant-based protein maker’s supply chain, Einride announced on July 28.

In the first phase of the partnership, the companies will deploy five Einride-connected trucks and charging infrastructure to support them, according to the release. The companies did not specify where in the U.S. the chargers and trucks would be located.

Einride plans to scale e-trucks connected to its in-house data platform across Beyond Meat’s U.S. operations over the next five years.

Beyond Meat joins GE AppliancesMaersk and Oatly in ordering electric trucks from the Sweden-based EV manufacturer for their North American operations.

Niklas Reinedahl, general manager of Einride North America, said in a statement the partnership is “a natural fit, given our aligned efforts to offer actionable products rooted in creating a more sustainable future.”

“Achieving a sustainable future requires collaboration and cooperation among brands from every industry and we’re thrilled to add Beyond Meat to our growing network of U.S. companies committed to creating a clean and efficient supply chain,” Reinedahl said.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Christopher Pimentel, Beyond Meat director of environment, health and safety, said in a statement that the company’s sustainability efforts don’t stop with its products, “but incorporating this mindset across our business operations as well.”
