Truck driver caught with 3 million dollars hidden in barrels full of pork
Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office Press release.
On Saturday, December 7, 2019 a deputy with the Community Interdiction Team stopped a tractor-trailer driven by a Hispanic male traveling southbound on Interstate 85 for failure to maintain lane and impeding the flow of traffic. Based on the officers training and experience and a K-9 alert, the tractor-trailer was moved to a safe location for a search. During the search, approximately 3 million dollars in cash was located in barrels containing raw Pork Shoulders.
The Sheriff’s Office has reason to believe that the money was headed to the US/Mexican border and also believes the money was a result of drug sales throughout the region. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has been called in to help with the investigation.
