Tractor-trailer flees checkpoint; over 100 undocumented immigrants found locked inside the trailer

MAY 30, 2021– US Border Patrol (USBP) agents assigned to the Laredo North Station encountered the tractor-trailer at the primary inspection lanes of the Interstate 35 #checkpoint. A #K9 team alerted to the conveyance and referred it to secondary for further inspection.
The driver was advised to go to the secondary inspection area but ignored the agent’s directions and fled the checkpoint. Agents quickly pursued the tractor-trailer, which came to a stop on the highway median before the driver absconded into the surrounding brush.
Agents opened the locked trailer and discovered over 100 undocumented individuals hidden inside. Agents arrested the driver shortly after. Eight undocumented minors were found among the group, seven of which were unaccompanied.
MAY 28, 2021 – #USBP Laredo West Station agents intercepted a human smuggling attempt when they stopped a commercial truck hauling a tanker trailer at the Highway 83 checkpoint.
US Border Patrol #K9 Team alerted agents prompting them to search the tanker. This led agents to discover over 50 undocumented individuals hidden within the tanker.
